Assessing what needs to be done.

I have not done any coding this week, so I apologize if you were hoping for some new code.  There has been a lot of progress in a short period of time that I have been working on the game, and I needed to take a step back for a little bit to clear my mind.  I will try to but I may not make to much progress over the next week either.  I am getting back to clearly figuring out what I have to do to make each system function properly.  So today I am going to go over what systems need to be completed before I can move out of the pre-alpha stage and start adding content and doing minor bug fixes as it grows.  All these systems are necessary for the game to function in the game like way that it is supposed to.

The major systems are the combat system, which is made up of several smaller parts.  Which are the personal targeting system,  Ability functions and calls, and ability animation which will likely be done in a stacked manor to prevent clearing animations that are already happening.  The targeting system will be one of the bigger parts of this system and will be done using a button overlay to calculate what is being clicked.  I will also look into the clickable functionality on items to see if that is a smoother way to handle it.  Although that would not help with targeting players for healing and such.  The ability system is tied to the equipment section and will likely be written in tandem with that system.  Each equipment will have 1 ability tied to it that leans toward the stats that it has.

Other systems that will need to be finished and will likely be toward the end of the pre alpha development stage will be the loot system.  Loot will only be found in chests and not dropped by monsters.  Monsters will be drop a form of currency which will also be able to be used to purchase equipment.  The equipment system that will be tied into the loot system will just take the stats from the item and add them to the player stats when equipped and subtract them when unequipped.

At this moment those are all the systems I feel are necessary for The Depths project to really be a basic game that can be expanded on.  Again I am sorry for the break in progress and I will try to bring you something new by next week.  Thank you for taking the time to read today.
