The Depths Game Project Update 1
I was hoping to have some code done for a procedural dungeon  creation engine that I will be using for my game.  But unfortunately I had some computer issues and somehow my file and all the backup files for the code I was working on were wiped to blank files.   So I have not been able to make any significant progress toward that goal.  I am still working on it and hope to have some code done here in a couple weeks.  In the meantime I might also work on some art for the particular game I am working on.
So since I don't have any real content this week I figure that I will describe the project that I am working on. Really I should have done that in the first place, but I really wasn't sure which direction I wanted to go with it. I am a learner in this process and just wanted to feel things out at first. But now that I am a bit more confident with the dragonspeak coding and have been introduced to some of the crazy things that can actually be accomplished within the game. I have an idea of what I want to do. I even have a working name for the project as well, The Depths.
So my goal for the depths is to create a game akin to the earlier Diablo games. In the early iterations to be a rogue like where there will be no saved data. And if I keep working on the game after I get the rough engine put together I hope to be able to save character data if players decide to leave the dungeon before they die. I still want character death to result in a full wipe though. But that is if it gets that far. As far as art and stuff goes I want it to be very simplistic. Not a complete reduction to simple shapes moving around, though simplistic non the less.
Though I understand my description may be a bit lacking at the moment. I hope as time goes on and I have more to show for my work that it will be understood better. Right now I am working on the main engines of the game. When all that work is done I will be able to start adding content and character to the game. That is when things will start to get interesting.
I do this as a hobby and while also working a full time job. I really wish I had more time to work on this project and have more to show. But as it stands now it is going to have to be a week to week thing. If you made it all the way to the end here I also appreciate you taking the time to read this.
